Interior Styling Masterclass: London & Manchester

Materclass Jpeg

As an extension to my evening Guardian Masterclasses I’ve been holding over the past year, I’m now offering a full day course in studio as well as taking it on the road.

There are three types: Guardian Masterclass ‘So you want to be an Interior Stylist’, an evening lecture based course. Interior Stylist for a day in London, a full day in studio. And, Introduction to Interior Styling for Photography in Manchester, this course is a blend of the two offering morning based lecture with the afternoon in studio.

It’s no-nonsense insight into the industry and the reality of the day to day won’t be sugar coated but when all is said and done you’ll be hooked. Interior Styling isn’t a job, it’s a life style!

Interior Stylist for a Day: London

Working with a professional photographer in a studio environment at Holborn Studios, you’ll work in teams to create a vignette image. Learning how to steer a shoot from brief, involving role play, to concept through to finished image. Ending the day with a digital image for your portfolio.

You’ll leave with an understanding what is expected of an Interior Stylist on an average commission. Along with learning how to translate and interrupt a client brief, what’s involved in commissioning a photographer and learn some tricks of the trade.

Time table: 9.30am- 12.30- Introduction. Brief and presentation of concepts. Q&A

12.30-1.30 – Lunch break. Beverages supplied through the day.

1.30- 5pm – Practical plus Q&A

Introduction to Interior Styling for Photography: Manchester

Behind 99% of the all interiors images you’ll find a stylist has been involved, yet most people don’t know we exist. For those who are aware of us, we are elusive when trying to access information. An Interior Stylist role in the photographic industry is one of sourcing props, finding locations, set designing, briefing contractors, trend forecasting along with styling in front of the camera itself. During this one-day course I’ll demystify our role, explain how to get into the industry through to the process of having work published. We’ll work in teams with a photographer to create an image and you’ll learn some tricks of the trade.

One day. 9.30am- 5pm

9.30- 12.30 – Theory plus Q&A

12.30-1.30 – Lunch break

1.30- 5pm – Practical plus Q&A

No prior skills or experience are required. The course is suitable for students, bloggers, current stylist assistants needing shoot experience or those looking for a career change.
