Colour Predictions 2015

Pick and mix! You know, those rows of sweets that you move along with a bag in hand, scoping up two of chocolate freckles and ten jelly beans, this is how I would sum up the colours of 2015. Even though I’ve curated four groups don’t let this stop you from picking and choosing our own palette.

A hint (literally no more than 3% of a scheme) of yellow is a thread than runs through all palettes, whether it’s the muted stoney tones or the fresh collection of blues and greens. Without doubt the most used hue will be light pink. At Maison et Objet in January it was everywhere: upholstery, soft furnishings, wallpaper, vases…paired with copper and concrete it takes on a modern twist. On the note of copper, metals continue their resurgence in 2015. Brass and copper, brushed or polished, coupled with gloss or matt coloured accessories and furniture, will start to become the staple in every home.

Interiors will be bold with blocks of colour appearing on sofa’s; seats being different from the sides, which could be different to the back, then layered with cushions in another. The key holding it all together is that the colours sit within a theme such as the earthy or mature tones.

This is simply a roundup of the colours I feel you’ll see appearing throughout the year in one way or another. There are obviously others but the below will be a constant, it’s simply a matter of your need and confidence to how you use them. For some a cushion or two, for others painting an entire wall. The sky is your limit (Excuse the pun).
